Redskins Training Camp Recap

shadow

Three days at the Washington Redskins Training Camp and I made a lot of observations. Good or bad you be the judge of that.

1)      First off this team looks and acts very confident. They should be though considering they are coming off a NFC East championship and have the core of those players back. Plus, their glaring weakness was the secondary and they added the arguably the best corner in the game in Josh Norman. People will doubt this team being a serious contender, but the players and coaches sure won’t

2)      The only couple of battles left to decide. One is the LG spot between Sean Lavou and Spencer long. Long does have the upper hand because he has been at camp the entire time while Lavou was on the PUP for the start. The preseason will tell who gets the call for week one. The other battle is the SS position. David Bruton was a FA signing in the offseason from Denver and is one on the depth chart as of right now. Duke Ienacho is the main competitor. This is Bruton’s job to lose.

3)      If Kirk goes down, so does the Redskins. Kirk has looked sharp and looks to continue his success of last year. After that not much, Colt has looked pedestrian at best while rookie Nate Sudfeld looks like the 6th round draft pick that he is. If someone has to step up for and injured Kirk they will have weapons to throw to, but I am not sure if they have the talent to make it happen

The first preseason game is tomorrow in Atlanta. It will show a little more than training camp, but expect the guys who should make the team do well and the others scrap for that last roster spot.
